Pakistan will stand by Iran against foreign aggression: Zardari


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has assured his Iranian counterpart Mehmud Ahmadinejad on Friday that Pakistan will not give bases to the United States in case of any aggression against Tehran.
The assurance comes as a trilateral summit of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan begins in Islamabad to discuss issues related to counter-terrorism, human trafficking and   border management. The two day summit is also expected to consider peace process in Afghanistan.
Zardari also told the Iranian president Islamabad would standby Tehran in the wake of any foreign intervention.
The talks  continued on the second day on Friday in Islamabad. Army Chief  General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Interior Minister Rehman Mailk also attended the summit. A joined communique was also singed by the three presidents.
Mehmud Ahmadijejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai was given warm welcome at the President House as they arrived in Islamabad on Thursday.
