London: The Taliban has issued a warning to the British royal family and said that they will kidnap Prince Harry when he was deployed in Afghanistan as an Apache attack helicopter pilot.
The Daily Mail quoted Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of Taliban, as stating, “In the past, we have defended against the invaders and we will do so in the future. We will continue to defend against all the invaders, but we will use all our power to kill or capture the prince.”
The warning from the Taliban comes after Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on February 9 that the Prince Harry would be deployed in Afghanistan towards the end of 2012 to fly the army’s Apache attack helicopter.
In 2008, the prince’s 14-week trip to Afghanistan was cut short when the MoD decided to return Prince Harry to Britain amid fears that the Taliban would catch him.
Ever since 2008, the prince has been eager to return to Afghanistan and fix his reputation. He completed an 18-month training course as a helicopter gunner and was declared best in his class.
