MQM wants to empower women, says Altaf


Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said that empowered women would strengthen the Pakistan.

He said MQM wanted to empower women in the country, adding that women work side by side with men. He said MQM had raised voice for the rights of women at every place.
Altaf said women were still treating discriminatory in the country. He expressed equal grief with the missing persons’ families and said 28 workers of MQM were still missing.
“We are not the enemy of every one, we are the enemy of feudalist,” he said. The chief claimed that one million women had attended the rally.
He said those, who kill the women in the name of honor, should be hanged.
The MQM build 36-feet above stage for the rally which was decorated with pink roses while the party has claimed to have placed 100,000 chairs at the ground.
Earlier, additional IG Karachi Akhtar Gorchani, as well as the Bomb Disposal Squad, inspected the venue before the rally, while the girls’ wing of All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO) – the student wing of MQM – are providing security at the rally.
MQM has also setup a food and mehndi stall in the venue for the women. MQM leader and former Mayor Mustafa Kamal has that after seeing such a big crowd it is understood that the whole families are committed with the MQM.
The rally was also addressed by Farooq Sattar and other women leaders of MQM.
