Karachi: Pakistan’s famous TV
and film actress Atiqa Odho has said she wants to contest election from
Karachi and she is still a member of All Pakistan Muslim League, a
political party headed by former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.
In an interview with local Urdu daily
Nai bat in Lahore on Wednesday , the actress said that she had not left
the party and could not even think of joining any other party.
Odho said that although she wanted to
participate in general elections but the final decision would be taken
by the party leadership in this regard.
She said that former president Pervez
Musharraf had led the country on the way of prosperity and if more time
was given to him, Pakistan would have been a prosperous country.
“Pakistan needs a true and an upright leader and Musharraf has the
guts,” Odho said.
Replying a query regarding her new film,
she said that she had signed an agreement to play a role in the film
but shooting has been delayed due to some reasons. She said that she was
leaving for Karachi where she had to complete some projects and would
soon return to Lahore.
It is to mention here that Aitqa Odho
had a key role in Musharraf-led party but disappeared from political
scene after being caught carrying two bottles of imported wine in her
luggage at the Benazir International Airport Islamabad while traveling
to Karachi in June last year.
She was released by the authorities for
her influence in power corridors but Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the situation. Odho has been
facing a case in a Rawalpindi court since last year.
