Karachi: Additional Chief Secretary Malik Asrar Hussain has said that an independent evaluation have indicated that student and teacher absenteeism was a big problem in Sindh. On a given day 50% children and 25% teachers were missing from their schools.
He was said this while presiding over first meeting of Sindh Education Department Partners’ coordination (SEDPC) forum here on Monday at Sindh Secretariat Building.
He said that the education was a priority of Government of Sindh and we need to improve our textbooks, teacher training curriculum and the supplementing learning material.’
On this occasion, Secretary Education Muhammad Siddiqui Memon said that the education was a priority of the Government of Sindh.
Memon said, assessment reports compiled by the government and by civil society organizations pointed very alarming situation and we have to work hard to improve the situation.’
He appreciated the role of donors partners towards improvement of standard and quality of education in the province.
Representatives of USAID, World Bank, World Food Program, UNESCO, JLCA, EU, DFID and CIDA discussed in details the problems facing by Sindh in education sector. They also highlighted their achievements, vision, challenges and future implementation.
